Gunning maintenance works are best suited for situations where quick small repairs are needed in several specific areas of the plant. Gunning allows fast set ups and material installations.
Gunning is also a very suitable process for installing insulating castables materials, in a fast.
PROCESS
Castable Gunning consists of the following steps:
1. Feeding the dry castable to the silo of the gunning machine. Sometimes, the castable can be fed humidified from a mixer, for a semi-wet gunning.
2. Castable supply from Gunning machine to application point, through hoses, powered by a compressed air pump.
3. Addition of Forming Additives at the nozzle. The castable adheres to the projection surface when these liquids get mixed with the cement and the special additives of the castable.
The Accelerating Additive helps the castable to adhere to the surface, without fully setting. The castable stays in a plastic state for a period long enough to allow the formation of a compact lining without layers.
